I worked with a guy a few years ago who claimed to have invested £4k in ASOS which he sold when it hit £8k. He said if he’d held onto the shares, they would have been worth £8m at their peak. Claims he had no regrets. Not sure if completely correct be he seemed a very genuine person. I’d settle for 1 or 2 million quid profit here….can live in hope!

I’d take 2 or 3 quid now as not getting any younger but feel all worth a lot more.

I showed a cousin the Scancell portfolio a couple of years ago. She works for a company called Iquvia, managing cancer drug trials. Surprisingly, she had never heard of Scancell but was visibly impressed reading their details. She responded by saying they’d be worth billions if achieving even half of what they’re aiming at, also that they’d be ‘taken out’ on successful phase 2 data….

We have summarised the information on their site about Scancell's GlyMab platform.

Scancell has developed a new technology that generates mAb that recognises changes in sugar chain modifications known as "glycome" in cells with high specificity. This sugar chain modification can be said to be a lot of attractive targets because many cells change dramatically in the process of malignant conversion.

GlyMab platform

In conventional anti-glycan antibody production technology, there was a problem of low target affinity and lack of specificity, but the GlyMab platform succeeded in technological innovation to overcome it.

The possibility of developing various products

Glycan targeted antibodies can be developed into multiple products with different mechanisms of action. For example:

-Dearing powerful drugs as ADCs

-As a double-specific antibody

-Binding domain is used for chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) cell therapy

Portfolio and ongoing research

Scancell has a portfolio of anti-glycan antibodies with very high specificity and affinity for the target. The current portfolio includes 4 mAbs that directly target different glycans on tumour cells and mAb, which is a checkpoint inhibitor. These 5 mAbs are under preclinical evaluation, and the target verification of other mAbs is also underway. This will add new mAbs to the growing portfolio.
