Just came here after a lovely relaxing bank holiday to find 337 messages.....do people live on here? I would ask for a recap but I don’t think there is any new information coming out. It’s all rehashed opinions that occur every day. Just like Groundhog Day!
Anyway, here’s hoping to a good week.

Also i didnt think there was a max limit on tax free withdrawals from an ISA. You cant withdraw as much as you like tax free. You just cant pay into the isa more thank 20k a year? CGT kicks in at 12.5k profit but from a normal share dealing account, not an ISA.
Hi Gunfish, you are correct. The shares are sold then you buy back. What I was trying to suggest (sorry it didnt come across that well) was if you had 1000 share at £1 = £1000
if the SP hit £3 your worth will be £3000
So if you sold your 1000 shares at £3 you will have £3000 in the bank.
So if you then reinvested that £3000 and bought the same shares in the isa, you will still get about 1000 shares. (if you are fortunate with SP)
Again I may not of explained that well but thats as simple as I can put it.....from a simpleton myself!
Best thing you can do is ring up your broker / share account dealer and ask them to transfer it over to an isa.
I wouldnt worry about what you bought in at as you would reinvest im sure the profit you are in now to 'buy back in'
Yes its a higher price but you have roughly the same amount of shares.
100% worth doing!!

One thing I do know, is when I hit the cgt threshold, first thing I will be doing is getting an accountant to advise me. Im not planning on withdrawing soon though so may have a few months / years to go.
I maybe wrong, new to all of this, but when you’re doing online transactions in and out of HL or whatever broker you use, in the digital age we live in, this is far more easier to obtain the information.
I’m sure I read somewhere that brokers submit info for tax purposes or something.
Again, I maybe completely wrong and may have read this whilst sleeping.
I’m good at that.....
With all due respect to all those here, I read what is put but I wont follow advice and where to put my money from anyone. I appreciate the tips on books and will read alot but Ive learnt alot and the big take away from all this is trust no one.
There have been some really good research articles posted but thats about as much as I read into whats put here and on other BBs.
I will keep reading and taking on board tips for reading etc and look forward to the COPL rise.
Thanks Sam, Yeah ive been very fortunate this week but dont get me wrong, i did get drawn in to some bad investments chasing the rise. Sealand, Tomco, Ukog, Fjet all lost me a couple of grand. I did lose a lot but definitely 'paid' for the experience. I just want a little more understanding on my investments.
Really interesting insights guys. I am getting married soon and my SYME investment has paid for that. I have bought a few books to read whilst on Honeymoon (what else do you do).
Just need COPL now to pay for the honeymoon.
