Given where Ted Baker stock was 5 years ago - I feel its massively undervalued currently - even if it sells for 500 a share I'd still think that too low given the potential for a rebound it has has a brand. I bought at 100 but bought in for the long term, not for a quick buck and feel that any sale at or around the current price would be far to low.
What does everyone think to the ML situation?
Ive been reading what's available and I genuinely don't think he is guilty of anything - HP paid 4 x the known public stock value, no one forced their hand, sounds like a bad case of buyers remorse, and as i understand they them selves dropped the civil suit against ML?
I'm not privy to all the details / facts but from what's publicly available it seems like a witch hunt to me and the US overreaching.
Ndn71 - I agree but ultimately it's all speculation in the short term, if it goes below 400 i'll put a chunk in and again at 375 / 350 if it goes that way - but I don't plan to predict a floor for it - in the same way many of us missed the opportunity to sell out at 1003 (my self being one of them) I'd also not want to wait for that magic low number that never comes - I think over the next few weeks it will stay fairly volatile with good days that fool us into thinking we're on a upward trajectory and bad days where we want to cash in and cry - but long term all will be good and if in a couple of years its at the 2000's and getting acquired will we really care if we bought at 350 or 550?
Come on Charles! If you was that confident you'd not have to wait for ML news or 449... Sentiment is all over the place as it has been for 6 weeks, and todays small rise is likely due to Jeffries actioning buys for DT - none of this "i'll add more after this or that" just go balls out and buy now if you're a believer!! in it for the long haul!! think in months / years not hours / days....
I expect they will use those repurchased shares to fulfil options / incentives etc - as I understand it they will be held in trust - but yeah in theory you are right RE the £20m profit!! although it's small change to a 3Bn corp!
600 in 2 months is very specific Charles, I expect to see a notable improvement in 2 months but wouldn't feel comfortable putting a number on it - One huge win that could send it shooting up is if there was a big uk Gov cyber contract announced, or a voluntary lock in for the big VC investors to stabilise the shares for 6 months but as things stand I think its just the nature of the market - Cyber is taking a beating at the minute, as its BTC and the market as a whole really, I'm writing off this year now in general and waiting until the new year before I put my optimistic hat on!
Charles, I'm no one other then my self,
And as I've said I've been a reader for a while, and have seen your daily posts advocating DT and lots of what you say is 100% spot on but I also get the feeling you're very worried, posibly sitting on a paper loss with DT and have some kind of agenda here to convince your self that the end of the volatility is in sight.
And I definitely don't believe it is, and quite frankly I don't care, I'm invested and will ride what ever wave comes and in all honesty i just see this dip as a buying opportunity, and if you believe in it that much so should you. I plan to hold onto DT for the next few years at least and likely right upto when there's a merger or acquisition with a bigger player and we wake up to Cisco (or similar) stocks in our dealing account...
The long term direction is up, the 6, 12, 24, 36 month direction is up, the 1 to 60 day direction is all over the place, just keep buying and don't worry.... DT genuinely has one hell of a product and long term you'll be laughing. but try to stop worrying so much as its incredibly distasteful as is the presumption and subsequent acquisition that i'm another member.
I honestly hope it stays low for a few months so I can keep buying!! PH did us all a huge favour in real terms, albeit they was full of BS, it's helped me no end!!
I doubt it has hit its bottom - it will be up and down for weeks yet I think - Looking at the data so far I expect swings both ways of around 100 (300-500 and anything inbetween) - I'm just using it as an opportunity to boost my ISA and SIPP - at least it's not boring!!
New to the chat but been a reader for a while.
I originally bought DT back in May time at around 360 and bought / sold all the way up to its peak in September (like many i wish i sold on the 23rd at 990) but confidence in it has meant I have held onto a fair chunk of it all the way back down recently buying some more - (current holding 3000 shares).
My stance is that we're in very choppy waters, tomorrow it could be 450 or 350 , next month it could be 300 or 500 - but based on what I've seen so far I fully expect it to surpass its September peak within the next year and perhaps go on to the 2000's and beyond in 2023 - a big part of my reasoning is that I work in corporate IT and have trialed DT's product and am looking to roll it out in the new year and it's genuinely a powerful tool, albeit a goliath of complexity, it offers some real cutting edge detection and protection. realistically though i think they will end up getting acquired by one of the big guys (MS / Cisco / AWS / Paloalto et al) before they get too big (perhaps at the 10-12bn mark ) as if DT became part of a bigger more integrated security suite it would become incredibly profitable.
To any of you guys in it for the shorthaul and are looking at daily fluctuations with a twitchy bum - i'd say get out and forget it as it will make you ill - we will likely see some wild swings over the coming weeks... but if you have the stomach to hold out and ride the storm then buy buy buy - while its cheap! if it goes below 400 I'm adding another 3000 to my holding, and if it goes to 350 I'm adding another 4000! I also think the fact they have been buying back shared and been quiet in the media (not shouting about big deals / how great they are) gives some indication that something big is coming and they wanna get some stock back while its cheap... like buffet says, be greedy when others are fearful....
