Thought provoking post on PRD board...
Hello Haemo
You do what you do to earn a buck or two...
you know it
we know it
and you even know that we know it
it is just how it is
Please allow me to give you some advice...
I assure you that it is given with the best will imaginable
And in the hope that you might remember it in years to come
I am now an old boy of 74
I have had a great life...I have been very fortunate indeed
My Father died almost 4 years ago aged 97 1/2...
he had led a life much greater than my own ...
including as a multi decorated tank commander
who went through his life ...after the horrors of WW2 ...
without complaining to anyone about what had happened to him
He lasted most of that long life without ‘bits’ (as he called them) that he had left behind in battle...
an eye, part of one hand, part of one arm...
and harrowing memories beyond the imagination of anyone who was not actually THERE...IN BATTLE
they took a lot of teasing out...
as that ‘special generation’ did not want to talk about it
I miss the old boy every day
and will do so until the end of my own time
I worked ferociously hard to provide for my family
and to try to help others (some of my money including share profits has long gone to decent causes)
You know what?
...the very last time I saw my beloved Dad...helpless in hospital...
he wanted me to cut an orange in half for him and let him suck on it...as he was incredibly thirsty
Whilst I was leaning over to hold the half orange to his lips, he whispered his good bye
He told me he loved me
and that I had made him incredibly proud to have been my Dad
I cried all the way home
I never saw my Dad alive again
Trust me Haemo...
PLEASE try to ensure that, when you are in my position in years to come ,
you can be 100% confident that WHATEVER you do in life will make YOUR Dad proud
It may not sound important at your age
But ...at the dying of the light, it is EVERYTHING...
I know
I do not agree with your line of work
but I do wish you well
Regards
GRH
