Greatland Gold Timeline Reminder23 Aug 2025 09:05
Some crazy numbers flying around... here's a reminder of GGP timeline:
July 2018: High-grade gold-copper discovery at Havieron project
Price: ~1.5 GBX (from ~0.4 GBX)
Surge: ~275%
Notes: Breakthrough discovery in Paterson Province put GGP on investors' radar.
March 2019: Farm-in joint venture with Newcrest Mining
Price: ~2 GBX
Surge: ~33% (from post-discovery levels)
Notes: Newcrest’s $65m investment for 70% Havieron stake validated the project.
December 2020: Maiden Havieron resource estimate (4.2Moz gold equivalent)
Price: ~38 GBX
Surge: ~1,800% (from early 2019 levels)
Notes: Gold bull market and drilling results drove a peak, with 1,974% annual gain.
September 2024: Acquisition of Telfer mine and 100% Havieron ownership
Price: ~138 GBX (from ~6 GBX in October 2023)
Surge: ~2,200% (from 2023 low)
Notes: $475m deal with Newmont transformed GGP into a producer, boosting valuation.
June 2025: ASX cross-listing and strong Telfer/Havieron production
Price: ~330 GBX (peaked at 363 GBX)
Surge: ~139% (from September 2024)
Notes: 90koz gold output and A$253m cash flow, plus expanded investor access, fueled rally.
I believe GGP will seize this opportunity. WSBN would be unwise to reject a deal, given their proximity to GGP’s operations. With GGP’s on-the-ground experience, established infrastructure, and streamlined workflows, a partnership makes sense. If WSBN’s results are strong, their stock could soar. I recommend holding, as GGP’s rapid moves were remarkable. However, be cautious... there’s significant hype, so results must be exceptional to meet expectations. If the results disappoint, the stock could just as quickly decline.
