I think the Chinese were looking to see how Russia got on.. Not too well atm it seems. I also think Tawain will be as formidable as Ukraine with plenty of help worldwide too. If Russia had gone in and did it in the 3 /4 days they expected to, then China might have got confidence they could do the same. Hasn't quite worked out as planned though has it?

Optimistic. I don't think MM work like that. They don't buy shares for themselves so to speak. They will take the sp wherever they can get some trades going, and yes they will take general sentiment into account and perhaps play on it, whichever way they can do some deals. When sentiment is rock bottom like it is here they will take it lower, like they have. likewise the other way. That's how I understand it anyway.
