I think you will find BA have more than defence to their name. Also - not just a UK company. They sell to a lot of countries that are EXPANDING their defence. A lot of projects on the go. Company buyback scheme. Always follows the ftse. Dividents at a high rate. Was around £2.90 this time last year then went up to £3.70 in october ish. Lots of UPSIDE. Go invest elsewhere but why come here and "warn" people? Amatuer by name...

Good price! Look at the charts. Generally these last 2 months tend to be the worst for BAE. October is the best month. I may sell then and buy back later (like I should have done last year!)

Bring back the cane in schools I say. And washing mouths out with soap. And slapping. Not allowed these days hence the lack of dicipline!

Unfortuntely this share tends to follow the FTSE which is in freefall. Come back in a year when all theis rioting/europe/us/global economy woes are out the way. Or sell and put in the bank hoping it doesnt go bust. Or better yet buy gold. Its not pretty out there. Im at a massive loss at the moment overall. Trying to forget it but its not easy! :|

Interim dividend increased by 7.1% to 7.5p per share

Highlights - Headline sales2 reduced by 13% in line with expectations - Underlying EBITA3 reduced by 12% after a charge of £160m taken on the Omani Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) contract and a one-off benefit of £125m from a Ministry of Defence settlement agreement - Underlying earnings4 per share reduced by 4% - Operating cash inflow of £176m - Interim dividend increased by 7.1% to 7.5p per share - Up to £500m market purchase of shares announced Outlook The Group continues to anticipate a reduction in sales2 in 2011 as the volume adjustment in Land & Armaments is expected to complete. Earnings have also been impacted by a combination of the first half charge for the Omani OPV programme and foreign exchange movement. These impacts are partially offset by a one-off benefit from a Ministry of Defence settlement agreement. Some further mitigation will result from an anticipated lower tax rate in the year. In aggregate, the Group anticipates that underlying earnings4 per share for the year will be broadly similar to 2010's restated earnings.

Yes - it follows the ftse quite closely and that is a mare thanks to the americans having a hissy political fight.
