RE: More tests in 202112 Jan 2021 19:33
Poidster:
RNS 29 September - Primerdesign annonces "it has signed a new supply contract with the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) for its q16 and q32 Rapid-PCR instrument platforms, exsig® COVID-19 Direct kits and genesig® SARS-CoV-2 Winterplex kits."
RNS 16.11.2020 Introduced "PROmate, - a new CE Mark approved product designed to further improve the workflow efficiency of COVID-19 testing when used in combination with the Company's q16 and q32 instruments. The reagents involved in the Company's COVID-19 RNA extraction and PCR test products have been repackaged, with some reagents also freeze-dried, to reduce the amount of consumables and the number of steps required, thereby reducing operator complexity and improving cycle times. In addition, PROmate™ uses a viral inactivation methodology validated by Public Health England for potential use outside of laboratory environments.
As Novacyt's NPT system continues to be deployed across the NHS, and globally, this improvement in workflow efficiency for COVID-19 testing is expected to make the system one of the quickest and easiest to use PCR platforms in its class."
So did Primerdesign start delivering exsig® COVID-19 Direct kits, and later changed to delivering PROmate kits (on or after 16.11.2020):
"thereby reducing operator complexity and improving cycle times", thus providing "one of the quickest and easiest to use PCR platforms in its class".
"PROmate™ uses a viral inactivation methodology validated by Public Health England for potential use outside of laboratory environments".
Primerdesign I assume has been delivering Winterplex kits throughout.
IMO its hard to see DHSC still using exsig® COVID-19 Direct kits as per contract, when ease of operation, workflow improvements and a viral inactivation methodology are available by using PROmate.
Product innovation at its best, - for "deployment across the NHS".
