Reinventing the Wheel?18 Feb 2021 09:48
Now a machine is a machine. We are talking about a face mask producing machine. We have not discovered something new. Face masks have been around for many years. Machines producing facemasks have been around for many years. So, a tweak on a facemask should be no major change in mass producing such machinery, never mind a one off. There will be several of the machines, believe me.
I have been an installation engineer, commissioning engineer, dabbled in process engineering. retrofitted machines, for over 30 years and believe me, there is a rat away here. This machine will have been pretty much plug and play, even in Covid and brexit times. You get shipments of spares from the OEM with the machine. Barring the odd few hiccups, it does not take so long to install and commission such a machine. Its boll**ks about operators. The OEM will have to stand and limp the machine through as part of their warranty. Penalties and clauses will have been drawn up in the URS. For Dr Cave to have "invented" this process in this current pandemic the machine would have been rushed through with backing from all sorts of major players, even the government.
I fear I have lost my well earned money in this lame donkey.
