JS - Your investment stance is interesting. One of the biggest - if not the biggest - investment criteria is generally considered to be the quality of a company's management. Buffet goes on about it every year in his shareholder meeting, and he's a pretty good investor.
You have a very large holding, according to your continuous board ticker update. Why do you then think the management, in particular AB, are useless? If I thought the CEO was useless I wouldn't be in the company to that extent - unless it was a clear value investment where management efforts don't matter quite so much.

It is possible that a fund is getting out of DEC. The price isn't really following gas prices at the moment, at least not on a daily basis. The catalyst might be the next set of results which should show an accounting 'profit'. The world outlook isn't looking great. Because of inflation, which is vastly understated due to hedonic adjustments (to name just one fudge), investors have to chase higher and riskier returns. This will unravel at some stage. DEC should, on the face of it, be quite a safe haven but it certainly isn't feeling that way at the moment.

There is still negative sentiment and DEC has not ticked upwards with the slight increase in gas prices of c15% over the last few days. A move above £1 is needed I think before favour returns. A gas price of between $2 - $3 would suit DEC as this would create profit from the hedges for the next couple of years and, as pointed out by other posters, they can pick up distressed assets.

Throne - I would be very happy if DEC cut it's dividend. 1) it makes DEC look like a basket case with a 15% yeald. 2) retain cash and grow organically. 3) buy back shares

A fair summary JDC. DEC SP has been higher when the gas price was well under it's current price, but dilution has affected sentiment. RH suggests it will be a very busy year but let's hope there are no more equity raises. It will be interesting on results day if the hedging shows a 'profit' - potentially a considerable one, and to see what happens to the SP. If it is marked up considerably, then we know the market does not really understand DEC.

Thanks for posting. I used to subscribe but never had enough time to read it properly until the next one hit the doormat. ST has been into JOG for a few years now. He has a few hits every now and then. His tips often fly on publication day then drift back.

Keep an eye on the £/$ exchange. Dollar has been weakening recently which will reduce the divi. It is, as I have stated previously, the biggest threat to DEC IMO.

As Buffett once said, the stock market is the only shop where, when there is a sale on, everyone dashes to the exit. Mr Market might just have give you a great opportunity. Time will tell.

With JOG somewhat de-risked I would think £2 would be a good starting point to invest, not offload. You have been so up and down on the share it's been quite amusing. Patience needed and a balanced mind. If daily fluctuations keep you awake at night then probably best out of it. Money was made on the 2 days of climbing price. It was bound to fall back as JOG still has a long way to go and short termers bail and stop losses hit. JOG in much better shape than a month ago and I see no reason to get too excited just yet.

The market rarely does what we want or expect. JOG is not an easy ride.

Picked up some more with the narrow spread. Just a short term spread bet.

Big spreads often appear in the morning first thing while the market tries to work out where it is - especially if there is a bit of a selloff which it looks like there was this morning. Managed to pick up some more at 96p and, without anything obvious going on, would hope the dift upwards continues.

NS wells are in the top drawer of expense and complexity. £50m would be cheap and can double if you get into difficulties.

Yes, we will get a fund raising round or two and then the ups and downs as the drilling results come in. The share will bounce around madly probably.

but nice to see some more director purchases. Some good conversations going on about the hedging. There is some more poor reporting by the IC which suggested the dividend had topped out and was declining. No idea how they came to that conclusion, but probably to do with currency conversion. I think this company is poorly understood, and the ONLY reason I am invested is that they hedge the gas price and cover the dividend. With UK inflation well under reported, it's important to try and get a good return.

Yes I too nailed my underpants to the mast at 6.5p with a big up spread bet. Just gone green and hoping for 7.5p. Happy to hold my actual shares for the duration. Sad to see this has been a disaster for some.
