RE: Interim results 12th of April30 Mar 2022 19:24
The following comments assume that StMicro will use Nanoco QDs. I have no reason to believe they won't. I do expect that STMIcro would not commit this much money without a backup plan, possibly even one that includes Samsung.
While high inflation will place a drag on the economy and reduce consumer buying, I don't expect that Nanoco will be visibly affected since their revenue is currently next to nothing. Yet, the platform potential is huge. According to STMicro and Nanoco, quantum particles are transformative. STMicro, for example, state that its Quantum Dots based products will transform the industry. They will offer far more capability at a fraction of the price and also reduce energy costs--win, win, win. While manufacturers might eventually choose a non-STMicro solution, whichever product they choose will likely include Quantum Dots. Nanoco and STMicro also check a number of other boxes--environment, energy, new and enhanced capabilities, cost reduction, micro machines, size reduction, transformative. While the war in Ukraine impacted STMicro shares recently, they are recovering well. A war would be the worst case, but it appears that quantum dots and STMicro products will be used in any war.
