I was already aware of the takeover bid rules.

These rules have been considered here during the past week and also when Drahi was in a similar position.

From what Bharti has been reported to have said so far he has no intention of buying all of BT.

What will transpire in this regard during the next 6 months and beyond nobody knows.

I have been unable to substantiate the claim made by the author which I queried in my first post today.

Therefore, I consider it to be fake news.

This Reuters article has informed most of the media output concerning Bharti's acquisition of a stake in BT:

Given that he's not sought a seat on the BT board it doesn't appear that he wants to be involved in the decision making process at the top level.

Any takeover bid for BT would need to be scrutinized by the UK government in accordance with the requirements of the National Security and Investment Act 2021.

Also, there would need to be certainty that the BTPS Crown Guarantee would be honoured.

These two obstacles are unaffected by today's news.
