Hosai : indeed, there is no proper data about mortality yet.
But if a good chunk of scientists around the world are getting alarmed, so much that even the UK's Prime Minister has to make TV address just to address this variant, one has to wonder how problematic this new paradigm could be.
Besides mortality, it's hospitalisation rates which is a major cause of concern for medical personnel and politicians alike. Nurses and doctors haven't stopped treating coronavirus patients since 2020. They are completely exhausted. And a number of them has quit their profession because they've been treated like dirt (Bojo contemplates building a 200bn£ bridge across the Irish Sea but can only find pennies for NHS salary raises, go figure).

"I asked a Sage adviser about the need for full plan B in England, the reply is very telling:
"If what we think we know [about Omicron] now turns out to be approximately true (and let's hope it doesn't) then Plan B won't be anywhere near stringent enough to stop this.""
SmithyS2019 : testing is not hiding, it's buying time (for better treatments to come out), reducing suffering and saving lives.
Sweden is a good counter example, given its appalling record of excess deaths.
"Countries in northern Europe have generally experienced much lower mortality rates throughout the pandemic. Some Nordic nations have experienced almost no excess deaths at all. The exception is Sweden, which imposed some of the continent’s least restrictive social-distancing measures during the first wave."

Now if you have no qualms about people dying to prop up your investments, I can understand the logic. You should just be more upfront about it.
"Maybe our politicians should shame Macron more by reminding him of the sacrifices the UK made during WW1 and WW2."
Why must Brexiteers continually live in the past ? And why can't they ever get rid of their siege mentality ?
Travel bans do work but they're not sufficient by themselves.
Governments need to test everyone, instead of forcing vaccines which are unable to prevent catching and transmitting the virus.
Meanwhile :
It's not just the emergence of #Omicron - a more transmissible & possibly vaccine-resistant variant which is problematic (given more indoor socialising, low children's vaxx and incomplete booster protection); it's also that it's arriving at a time when cases are 50,000/day in UK

Wallbrook and Collin being useless as usual.
> Today 2 suspected B.1.1.529 (Nu variant) samples were analyzed. Samples were flagged as suspicious because of an S gene dropout qPCR. 1 sample was confirmed to be the new Nu variant. This patient was not vaccinated and developed mild symptoms 11 days after returning from Egypt.

News... err variants travel fast !
That's right RegulatorUK, Colin is very experienced in shafting the PIs.
In fact, he must has spent the majority of his time devising ways to shaft investors, instead of trying to shift products.
"Most people bought into odx for the covid test it kept suggesting was going to be selling in millions."
Case in point, resident ramper Trickymatters on 27/09/21 :
"And if we get self approval as expected, private sales will be much more- to the airline industry. Lfts will start to replace PCR for those returning to travelling abroad from mid to late October. ODX will sell everything they make."
