I have not seen quite so many 50K multiple (eg 50K, 100K, 250K etc) trades yesterday as both Buys and Sells. I think that this is being manipulated down by one, or more large shareholders, who may know someone about good news coming that is perhaps not yet public. I believe that they are taking a good chunk of profit from those who may think that 20% is a great result.

I suspect not - you will notice virtually none of the people who have been following Vanadium here for the last 4 years commenting on them. They are the same story as King River Copper - find a large low grade resource and then tell the world that you are going to extract all the vanadium with an unproven novel technique. Like King River Copper I expect that you will find that the excited last there for no more than a few weeks and then they are back where they were.

If there is any discount to the SP today as a result of the dread word 'placing' then you should consider this as a buying opportunity and forego the opportunity to future bemoan the fact that you were not able to pick up ATM shares at less than 4p. This is how it was when BMN was sub 2p and nobody knew what Vanadium was - at least Tin is a widely recognised and understood metal.

The answer to this question is of course 1) because roughly 90% of the world's Niobium is made in one mine in Brazil (CBMM) - jumping out of the Vanadium frying pan would definitely be a case of jumping into the Niobium fire and 2) the chinese rebar regulations specifically require Vanadium to be used. BBN has rightly pointed out that steel producers have another choice - switch from old fashioned FeV to new fashioned Vanadium/Nitrogen alloys such as Nitrovan. The Vanadium present in Nitrovan turns out to be 66% more potent than the Vanadium in FeV (only 0.06% Vanadium content is required to reach the same strength that normally takes 0.1% Vanadium when applied in FeV form http://www.nitrovan.co.za/documents/Vametco%20Alloys%20Brochure%20(Digital).pdf ) This is not some sleight of hand due to the extra weight of Fe added - it is simply that Vanadium is so much more effective when BOTH Vanadium AND Nitrogen get added together. Thus steel producers can make their Vanadium go further simply by switching from FeV to Nitrovan before they have to even consider the nuclear option of switching to Niobium as a steel additive.

Tyfoon - I agree that a sale of the coal assets seems to align with the overall BMN PR positioning - however $2 per tonne seems mighty cheap when the average price of coal delivered to the electrical energy sector was around $44 per tonne in 2015. Also bear in mind that is the price at the minehead, not a price delivered to Madagascar, which might be somewhat higher. Thus I think that a price of $10 per tonne seems fairer - there are 138M tonnes so this would equate to approximately GBP 1 Billion value.
