Thanks PureG,
I'll look forward to it, (I think).
Yeah, I wouldn't read anything too suspicious into it PureG. Certainly not at this stage. But it's just best to avoid it right now.
Jon V is keen to "get money on shelves" as he put it. That means via the Mint/Napsterventures set-up.
I guess there's no point in promoting it, until it's READY to be promoted.
"Artist collectables available on Napster in the coming months." Jon V says.
Mint is the first deal for Napster Ventures. I've no clue what other peers Mint might have, but there may be others looking to do the same., If so Mint will be testing the water. So, important.
A heads-up. When googling Napsterventures.com.
It says 'coming soon' but a privacy warning comes up. It gives a back to safety' option.
Morning PureG, Italian.
Yes, I also registered some while ago. Last summer? Or maybe even a bit before.
Many thanks PureG. Apart from via Google, I can't see how else to do it.
Still, as you say, it shouldn't be too long now before we find out anyway.
Hi Italian. Have you had any success with telegram?
It might spoil the fun of end-March anyway! LOL.
Thanks for the input, PureG. It takes things a step further.
My brokers, ii, said last May they were looking into options re the tokens as they were unlikely to be able to provide a platform for them.
Reading what was said at the time, if the tokens were launched (in whatever way), we would receive them.
So in effect, we will not have a choice to make.
Hello again Italian
The original criteria for cash/tokens for us PI's (those of us that are left) was for the balance of $25m to be divied up if no dealing platform could be provided for us to trade the tokens. I would hate to think I'd taken the cash when 2-3 years down the line this has achieved what Algorand are hoping for.
The difference between Napster and Limewire is that Algo OWN Napster. They have a vested interest in Napster that they don't have in Limewire and others, where these are just hosted on their platform.
IMO Algorand have a lot riding on this, both in terms of reputation and financial gain.
As does Jon V himself. If he gets this right he can get a job anywhere in music. And name his own price.
I suppose it may still end up being an option - cash or tokens. In which case this is just IMO
Morning Italian. Morning Offler. I'm the same as ever thanks. Trips to the surgery and the dentist not withstanding.LOL
Nothing new of note in the speech, but Algorand were having their 2023 'Fest' so Jon V had to put in an appearance.
Cash would be easier but $Napster tokens is more intriguing. He plans 2023 as 'break-out' year and then onwards and upwards from 2024. With the 'exciting ' time we've had I would expect something from left field at some point - preferably positive.
One thing I would like to know is what the share register looks like. e.g. how involved are AM, SH and N & G now?
Building NAPSTER on ALGORAND - CEO Jon Vlassopulos
It's on You Tube. Italian, if you want to Google it.
It lasts forty-plus minutes
Don't go forking out $499 for a ticket, Italian. LOL
I'm sure we're going to be getting some progress this year. Looking at some of his previous clips he is confident of web3/music being a billion-plus business in the next couple of years. With Napster in the vanguard.
Any serious marketing/PR will be aimed at the US initially. The rest of the world will follow.
Personally, I'm expectong ii to come up with info, as they did last May
Thanks KOK. But my previous attempts at Telegram were pretty much the same as Italian's.
Are you saying it's even more of a shambles than it was before de-listing?
Morning Italian
They will have to give us news by end March because we'll need to know how we stand.
Of course, they could just finalise things by paying us the remaining (larger) instalment and that will be that.
Somehow though, I would rather stay on for the ride for another 24-36 months or whatever it takes. Considering how long we've been involved already that doesn't seem a great deal more.
Anyway, if I don't talk to you before Dec 25, have a good one, and then we'll see what the new year brings.
Same to everyone else still holding their investment .
A non-committal balanced article Italian which concludes that the writer of it doesn't really know how it will go.
My thoughts are that crypto, NFTs and the like have gone too far to turn back. There is a lot of pent-up interest to become involved, but also a lot of nervousness. Some solid regulations will help. If any good has come out of the recent FTX fiasco it is that these are likely to be speeded up. Algorand have said they were virtually unaffected by FTX.
I watched most of the football. Crypto.com kept popping up on the pitch adverts. This seems to be just a general trading platform and i couldn't see anything specific to $napster tokens. Maybe it's not optimum time for too much PR yet anyway
Nice one Italian
It keeps us UTD on our progress. A confident pitch from someone who knows the music business and has got his head around the Algorand tech far better than I can. I didn't realise that Jon V was English but it's something that will likely add extra cred, British music (generally) being the best in the wprld
They don't mean to hang about either. This starts now, with a bigger roll out in 2023. A "multi billion business in the short term."
I had thought they might have planned a NASDAQ spin-off of Napster, but his mention of Deezer and Spotify would signal otherwise. In fact the latter have veered towards podcasts to make more money for shareholders, to the point where they were prepared to upset the artists. Any 'competition' between Napster and Spotify is becoming less significant
Artists themselves have long been demanding a better deal from streaming. Now they have their chance of getting it.
Covid was a bummer however you look at it.
AM and SH may have been left in charge of the app by Algorand, to maintain and update it as and when
And it's likely they will still hold shares in Algorand, like us.
In fact, it might be interesting to see what the updated shareholder list looks like. E.g. where do N & G currently figure in all this?
Good links you posted recently. I tried to reply but for a while I was being logged out when I tried to post. Seems OK now though.
Your links confirm Algorand's intention to develop the platform for Napster, so it will be cash or cryptos. More thrills and spills with the latter, if we can take any more !!
TBH, I don't think Algorand have treated us too badly thus far. All things considered.
Hi Glennstar, Italian
That about sums it up. Although why LLoyds have taken so long when HL and ii had all this done back in May is a mystery.
ii also added at the time that they were "investigating options available re tokens as they are not likely to be usable on their platform."
That would almost certainly apply to most, if not all, other brokers.
The matter lies with Algorand as to whether we are to receive tokens. If they decide it is not an option then it will be the cash payout (total $25m). There was a 12 month deadline for this which will take us to around end March.
seems to be working OK now
keep getting logged out
Hybrid
Have a look at my post of 19 May. I copied ii's message (almost) verbatim.
I made an error re payment 4 - should be $25m not $2.5m - which I later pointed out.
There has been nothing further from ii. We will probably be waiting on Algorand until March.
