As I say I feel much more confident with Chris Clay being in charge for well testing after reading his packed CV (there is a post of mine from several days ago going into more detail regarding Chris Clay titled Experienced Guy at Helm for testing Friday 09:01).

You do not produce 24/7 during any type of well test. You want to see how the reservoir responds to periods of flow and subsequent periods of the well being shut in. Rather like squeezing a ballon, does it return to its previous shape (reservoir pressure builds up again to before test) or does the balloon retain its new squeezed shape (reservoir pressure declined and cannot reinstate the balloons original form).

We may get a similar RNS to Balcombe where Angus notified the market that Hydrocarbons were at surface. But I don’t expect a detailed RNS until possibly the end of January. If it happens before then fantastic, but I much prefer Angus to be focussed on getting the best production results for its investors.

And what about tanker sightings / numbers? Again I’m not focussed on the numbers. What investors should be focused on is the optimised flow rates with no to very little decline rate from the start of the test to the end. That is the key number that investors should be looking for along with the pressure

I first posted this on Thursday at 05:56 titled “What’s on the Brockham Menu?” It is still very relevant. I see the usual suspects post incessantly about there must be problems at Angus and comparing it to BB. Loooooooong sigh. There is no issue at Brockam.

Brockham is nothing like UKOG BB well. UKOG broke most of the Good Oilfield Drilling Practices drilling BB and when trying to take short cuts or get too greedy with an over adventurous coring / logging program. They got their fingers well and truly jammed in the cookie jar. And would you believe it? They did it a second time when they drilled the sidetrack. What they did when they packed off the liner on both occasions is the equivalent of setting off a bomb downhole and sealing all the fractures around the well bore. Result….zero production.

Now its strange how the deramper talks about BB being a positive asset on the UKOG board, yet you wouldn’t touch it on the Angus board? lol Why did BB go wrong? Pilot error as in Sanderson and co didn’t get the basics right.

His complaints are the equivalent of ordering food at a fancy restaurant and immediately complaining about how much time its taking to prepare and cook the food.

Now for the repost:

Firstly patience is required from PIs. We live in an age where folk expect things immediately and constantly fed updates through phones, tablets, laptops, watches via social media. Yes Angus PR is rather sloppy and can certainly be improved. But, I would rather invest in a company that does things the right way and takes it time to get optimised flow rates than being having a sleek PR programme with no production. We aren’t going to get daily updates, so it’s best to know this otherwise you’re just setting yourself up for daily disappointment.

The expression “turn on the taps” is an oilfield expression for the well doesn’t need to be drilled first, not that it is that simple to start producing. There are several important steps before you see hydrocarbons at surface.

The well is opened up (from being shut in, valves are opened so there is now communication between the reservoir and the surface)

A build up period or clean up period of 48hrs for a standard well and I’m sure longer for the Brockham well. Why do you do this? So you don’t shock the reservoir and seal up your perforations and / or fractures. What you will produce first is fluid whilst drilling / completing the well which has seeped in to the formation. What goes in must come out ethos. Whilst you drill the well you keep a cumulative record of fluid loss into the reservoir because when it comes to producing from the same reservoir you have a rough estimate of how many barrels it will take to see hydrocarbons at surface.

The flow rate will be constantly monitored and the choke adjusted. This will go on for days, possibly weeks. It all depends on what the Angus guys observe the reservoir is telling them.

DHC - firstly how is the holiday? Secondly you don't seem to posting a lot on UKOG these days....I wonder why?!?!

Tidswell should have notified and requested permission from the BOD. He didn't and in my opinion should be removed from the company …and that was before todays stunt.

WL1516 - you don't use 3 full truck loads of nitrogen bottles solely for the slickline lubricator.

I've never seen Bankers fight over the bill, but an acquisition yes. I agree it does bode well regarding flow rates if there is an inner struggle taking place over who will win the spoils.

I dont trust Tidswell. He ran Angus like it was still a private company and I feel he will take it private after the PI's have paid for all the placings.

Rocky - you don't have slickline on the well when you are cleaning up the well or into the flowing hydrocarbons stage. Everything is done via computers and remote choke to optimise flow rates and folk can sit in nice cabins.

His post was more detailed than that.

gpmh - I'm not disputing any of that. I picked up on your posts where you questioned specifically oilfield procedures and how the timeline was being implemented at Brockam. Operations where you have no previous experience.

I think its only fair to state this as your posts operations wise are based on no facts, purely a gut feeling. Thats why I clarified purely comments aimed at operations for your benefit and other posters.

No I think they will do the same thing at Brockham and Balcombe.

Baits - they couldn’t produce immediately from the Kimmeridge at Lidsey. As its a new reservoir they would have to do the exact same thing at Balcombe / Brockham by carrying out a well test.

Angus can sell the oil they produce from the Lidsey test. I note they wish to produce up to 1,760bopd

Current Oil price $60 - $25 OPEX x 1,760bbls x 52weeks = then they could make up to $3.2 million.

I believe Angus share is 50% in X2 = £1.6million a year.

Every barrel of oil produced does actually make a difference and factor in production from 3 sites then you start to gain a healthy bank balance.

I do wonder if and when there is a vote if the same will apply where the BOD in the past have stated their position and if you don’t vote at all, then it means you are in agreement with the board. We shall soon see.

gpmh - I fully support your decision to sell your shares. That’s entirely your prerogative. But getting a “Civic Award Recipient for Business in Ireland at the age of 25 years” doesn’t make you a Well Testing Specialist. Investing in stocks is completely different to actually doing the job.

I note you have zero oilfield experience, so I’ll explain what is going on.

Opening a well is not like opening a bottle of Champagne. You just can’t enjoy it straight away. My previous post stated that PIs required patience as getting a well to flow is like performing surgery. Brockham is different to HH in many ways, but one of the important factors for flowing a well is the geometry or well profile. HH is vertical whereas Brockham is deviated. This means Brockham will take longer to clean up. You speak about HH “ONLY needed a little swabbing”. you do realise that’s harmful to the reservoirs longevity? Nothing likes to be shocked.

When Vonk spoke about Balcombe and Brockham he was specifically talking about the 7 day test at Balcombe versus a 12-18 month EWT test at Brockham, not which Field has more potential. That’s obviously Balcombe as it is in the sweet spot, it’s Kimmeridge is 25% think than at HH, flowed up to 3,000bopd during the 7 day test on the 1,600ft of exposed liner in Upper Kimmeridge (KL4) and the Kimmeridge is more mature than the rest of the Weald.

Angus commenced bringing Brockham out of suspension only on Monday 7th January, so talking about pre Christmas for trying to flow the well is completely wrong.

You’re comparing UKOG virgin Portland formation to Angus Portland which has produced for decades. I always found it ironic UKOG holders screaming from the roof tops saying there is oil in the Portland, yet 5 miles down the road Angus had been producing from it for decades.

I won’t bother to talk about the UKOG investment, as it will just attract UKOG trolls. All I say is would you rather buy a house off plan or a house you can move straight into with no delays?

And lastly I agree with your view regarding the management civil war needing to be resolved and oil flowing into tanks. The the current experienced turbulence will make way for blue sunny skies when this is resolved. Well that’s the plan lol.

Rocky - scaffolding is used to protect the well head when ongoing testing is being carried out and you still want access to the wellhead / cellar. Otherwise you would just install the cage if it was a quiet site and you were just producing.

The scaffolding prevents people from falling into the cellar - its quite a drop and you can kill yourself as well as stopping machinery driving into the wellhead and causing an explosion / fire / oil spill.

You will not see the wellhead from 650m away. Drone footage will spot it.

Thats a good indicator that the slickline work is completed for now.

Baits - you have to displace virtually the entire wells annulus ...not just 200m And the annulus is the volume between the tubing and the larger size casings. It takes time, so no issues.

I'm passing on facts, experience and achievable timelines. I don't profess to be an expert in curtains.

Pboo - I was actually very kind to you regarding your nitrogen bottle / surprise explosions in tanks post. That system is for crude oil tankers or offshore rigs where access is either limited and / or takes a long time for the fire team to arrive. Of course it was not going to be used for that at Brockham, but you would need oilfield experience for that which you don't.

Also...how can you suppress a fire if the bottles don't have a hose connect to the tanks?!?! Bluetooth?

The EWT process will have already been started and meetings held with the relevant bodies. A lot of the information from the Brockham EWT can be transferred and included in the Balcombe submission. The first well is always the hardest and then you have a working template.

So yes test both wells simultaneously is very achievable this year.

I would be interested to see if they are still working into the night as its 24/7 operations when flowing hydrocarbons. A good indicator.
