Agree with most of what you've said. However, I put myself through Uni for 4 years, working 2 jobs; one in a newsagents (early mornings) and the other as a kebab/pizza delivery driver with late nights (the best bit was I got an empty plate and could eat as much as I wanted as long as it fitted onto that plate. It's amazing how much food you can pile on if you are careful).
Anyway, my course was 4 years of teacher training, so no hope of starting the job before I was 22 years old. However, since then I've worked full time with no breaks in between contracts and currently teach overseas.
Some jobs require a qualification of course, but on the topic of things being easier now, the government threw a shed load of cash for people to train as teachers a few years ago and now you can even train on the job. Very frustrating when I think what I had to do to become a teacher...
How times have changed. Hey ho, onwards and upwards...
GL all.
