I'm surprised no one else has had a go at us taking up the board.
I don't really like having two brokers, experience has shown that the cash is always in the wrong place when it is needed, unfortunately it has become necessary. I assume none of us has experience of the new App only brokers who appear to charge nothing. Apparently they are the cause of the trades going through for one share that always seems to throw up a false price. Even seen a few zero share trades in the past few days. Not sure how that works.

K - Just a couple of final things - do you actually see those charges come out of you cash, or are they taken from the funds ? And is this just funds or shares and IT's as well ?
I wish I could still access my old HL account. I have a spreadsheet, I was with them from 2007 to 2014 and the only charges apart from dealing were £12.50 taken in 2011 and 41 pence, although I didn't record any reason for these. I left when they introduced a raft of charges that were being brought in, mainly for closing an account, which they dropped later. I just gradually sold all my investments and repurchased in Halifax and then I-web. Ended up with a £4200 loss from my seven years with HL. Mainly due to an £8000 plus loss on New World Oil, which is the other one I was trying to recall where the gangs were prevalent.
seen_it - we all learn from our experiences and misfortunes. Trouble with these boards is that most people are here only for themselves and their profit. They don't want the negatives mentioned.

Thanks..... but that was three years ago, minor problem with the KID, soon sorted but only because IHR are willing to get involved in these things. Most companies would would not have been interested and it would have dragged on forever.

That's interesting @seen_it - I had been wondering what would happen if I bought something though PB that I-web didn't approve off - a few years back I had two lots of shares forcibly removed from my ISA and had to open an account with XO to put them in.
Yes K. obviously the fees you pay to HL prove you are a professional. Ha ! Thanks for the tip on GRID - because I can't buy it, I haven't subscribed to RNS's - but I've just bought in via my X-O account. No problem at all, got the usual list of charges but I am assuming they don't apply - but will be good to see what happens. I like the yield with GRID and the opportunity to get in a little lower than yesterday. Not sure about the timeline with how long the investments will take to come online. BUT, at least the new subscribers won't get the dividend they announced today, whereas I will. Just got to find something with I-web to sell now as that is my bank account cleared.

This is another thing that took me months to get to the bottom of. There is less scrutiny required to list on the SFS segment of the London Stock Exchange, and therefore it is deemed suitable only for the more professional investor. I-web wouldn't tell me anything about this list, but it is rapidly growing -

Lots of quarterly dividend payers on there that keep getting recommended in share magazines and Mail Online, but we aren't worthy ! I believe with Jarvis/X-O you have to ring them and convince them you know what you are talking about, but to Lloyds/Halifax/I-web, these companies don't exist.
I added 2000 Gore St at 110.22p, selling out of VIP as it went ex-divi today - I'll buy VIP back in my ISA in the next three months as it is becoming a property trust and maybe a REIT. Surely upward for Gore from here.

Suddenly large buys going through, mostly from yesterday. Something weird happening here. Was just going to have a top up under 110p, but doubt I will get that now.
I-web won't let me buy GRID. I think it is in the Specialist list, and I-web won't let us "retail investors" invest in such technical stuff. Fine to buy dodgy AIM snake oil companies though.

There is no wonder due diligence too so long looking at the company. A complicated set up, but Duke will have done a thorough job.

and yet they are showing it down 2.5p. There always seems to be a few shares on my watchlist with false prices ever day.

So how come it is suddenly alright to discuss the withholding tax fiasco, after al the abuse I got, especially from dusterinmong, who is now complaining himself. You absolute hypocrite !!!

For those affected, I once again e.mailed Theresa, our outgoing Investor Relations vice president, asking her to leave a message on her desk for her replacement about the ongoing problem for a few investors. I told her that I would be selling out, either when I have a decent profit or after the September dividend if nothing can be achieved before then.
Perhaps if others affected did the same, we may get somewhere. My final message on the subject, unless any hypocrites have anything to say.

I know how frustrating it is, I have spent three years fighting I-web on the DEC/DGOC withholding tax saga. It gets so frustrating because you have to be an expert on US/UK tax treaties to understand and explain the problem to people. As most people on the DEC board are "ok Jack", it's get very abusive on there when I bring it up or try to advise others who question the problem. It's like the old days of Caza and Hawk where gangs of people called others "worms" anything else they could come up with. I have spent so much time researching, talking to investor relations at DEC, trying to get an answer from Computershare, and explain myself to I-web. I-web paid me compensation to shut me up, C/share won't talk to me, but they all know there is a problem that could be solved IF they all talked to each other. I even tried various investment magazines etc. I-web promised me they would warn about the problem before anyone could invest, but they never have.
There are just no answers to some things.

Hmm, filters not working today on LSE. Maybe the future for Crewe will be when the Government start spending billions on new projects. Lots of spare, unwanted land available for a new prison, houses and hotels for drug addicts, homeless etc, and a massive immigration centre to process our friends from overseas. All in a nice central UK location, handy for the M6, but not too close to major cities. Where will they find spare land, empty buildings etc ?

Great bit of ramping this morning K - almost had me heading to the buy button (wish we had smiley faces on this board).
Do HL have the facility to message them and ask in depth questions about these charges and who they apply to, where they appear on your account etc ? I always found talking to people at HL somewhat intimidating - it was like public schoolboys insisting they were always right when they were obviously wrong.
With I-web it's impossible to talk to someone who knows what they are talking about. Only live chat or phone calls available. - the only way to get anything done is make an official complaint and then they take notice.

I know K, it is all way too complicated. Certainly don't mean or want to get in an argument over this.
I would have thought that all HL can take out of your ISA account would be the 0.45% of your total investment. up to a £45 a year maximum.
All the other charges we keep coming across, whether Reit, IT, or a company like GSF should not be seen my any shareholder in their personal account. It is just a warning that the company invested in will be paying that amount to management advisory companies as a fix fee, so it will come out of , say GSF's accounts as an expense, as "Internal costs".
We are only warned because as shareholders, it affects our asset.

I quite like BMD, compared with others of that ilk. You have to read what he says though, he is clever. BUT, yes it is certainly terrible that one man can have this influence. What happened first after he sent his e.mail out - did people instantly sell, or did the MM drop the price in anticipation. The latter I think, so I added ... but I never get the AIM right.

That's what BMD says he has used if you read his e.mail -
