In fact, if you think about it part of our problem, if not all of it, is attributable to a lack of clear strategy and can be pared down to the simple question; will we become miners or are we explorers? Personally, I think this question has always been the one the market has had a problem with, because it's never believed we can become miners.

As far as I'm concerned, the SR is designed to resolve this issue. We need a clear and definitive statement that says one thing or the other. We cant say we want to be miners if we don't really believe we can; equally, we can't say we want to sell if there are no buyers.

There's another mystery: I really don't see what either Citi or Maxit can add to the mining route, other than possible financing options. They are bankers and corporate financiers and don't have a scoobie about how to build a mine.

Ship, off the top of my head I can't recall exactly where it appeared. However, we've had a number of recent conversations about this and someone provided the reference point to Quady, I think. It's there in black and white somewhere and end H1 was given as the deadline.

In any event I'm not sure how you can have an 'ongoing' strategic review. A board of Directors must set a definitive strategy which, by definition, sets an end goal. The variable parts are the tactics adopted in order to achieve the strategy - at least that's my interpretation.

Anyone had any responses to emails to the company since Fawzi departed?

The other day I requested clarification of the apparent contradiction relating to the completion date of the SR - the Prospectus said end June, Caldwell has recently said September. I have not received a response.

You may recall the DC said he was going to reduce the number of announcements, but they kept coming and Fawzi always replied to emails. Perhaps our new board really are committed to the code of Omerta.

no one has a problem with you expressing your opinion about the company - which seems largely to rest on the fact you think mather is a **** (many actually agree)- but it's your endless attacks on a few posters which cause the problem ( by responding they are also to blame)

why not simply ignore other people's posts and try to add some constructive comments/criticism of the company? there are more than a few on here who agree with you, but i'm sure they're as bored as i am of seeing this never ending stream of aggressive crap.

The nature of the recent 'discussion' (I use the word advisedly) on this bb is by no means unique.

Whenever a share is roaring away, everyone loves each other. The management walk on water and all the talk is of yachts, holiday homes and new wives. The moment things look a little less clement, everyone's at each other's throat, the company is hopeless, the CEO should be shot and the game is over. This happens without fail -GGP is the latest example where the bb has descended into farce...as has this one.

The only conceivable advice is to sell-up and look for another company to deliver your new Ferrari.

I'm beginning to think that having now got their feet under the table, the Cornerstone boys have realized it is not a case of simply turning up and flogging the asset and that Caldwell is engaged in a process of "prettying" it up in order to move to eventual disposal. This will involve attaining the licences (absolutely critical) and coming up with a feasible plan for the mine, although a DFS is no more than a distant dream. He has bought himself time by cutting costs and has improved his credibility at government level by re-locating to Ecuador.

I believe the SR will see us spin-off the non-Cascabel assets and SC will remain at the helm in order to achieve the ambition of realizing value.

As more than a few of us realised at the time, things were far dysfunctional than we were being told.

I recall the heated debates on here at the time of the fateful AGM when Mather was eventually shown the door. A fair number of us voted against his re-election on the basis we'd had enough of the hubris and general tosh that was being dolled-out.

I admit to being initially taken-in by DC, but it didn't take long to realize he was a gold-plated waffler. His vast remuneration was one of the worst examples of excessive executive pay I've ever seen...and he has the brass neck to sue us!

I happen to believe we are now in a completely different era and, as it stands, I've got confidence that Caldwell will deliver something. As for what that something is, I've no idea. But thank god he's taken the role and I see his relocation to Ecuador as a really good thing.
