The patent being filed was an important step which all the potential partners had in common in regards to getting a deal done. The fact that the partner would get a 20 years exclusitivity is massive for the partner as they would be in control of the pricing with no competition. Think about the revenue for them. Crazy numbers.

Now think in an industry where currently therapeutics are worth $100 billion+ and expected to grow further and diagnostic $10billion+ annually, you would think that these deals would come sooner rather than later.
