The Thar desert is home to the world’s largest lignite coal reserves, estimated at 175 billion tons, equivalent to 50 billion tons of oil and 2,000 trillion cubic feet of gas.

To develop the Thar Coal Project, the Company signed a JDA with China National Coal Development Company and the Private Office of Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum in Dec 2019 for coal to power and CTG/CTL development.

Thar Block I: Features a 1,320 MW coal-fired power plant (also known as Thar SSRL power station) and is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Thar Block II: Includes a surface mine with a capacity of 3.8 million tons/year and is developed by Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC).

Thar Block VI: Oracle Power owns a 30-year mining lease for this block, which boasts over 1.4 billion tonnes of lignite coal.

Thar Block III: Asia Power Group was awarded Thar Block III for coal mining and a coal plant through a bidding process in 2014, but it appears to be shelved or abandoned.

Thar Block IV: Is a cancelled power station.

With lots of noise around the coal industry I think this maybe the final pullback allowing some to take positions. Bid is creeping back up which suggests there maybe a delayed buy. Should see a strong close hopefully.
