RE: Asos - profitability jumping, sales not yet23 Apr 2026 16:10
I think the board have a long term mindset to right the ship completely before even considering another takeover bid, and i'm sure most LTH holders like us would feel the same. At best we can hope an offer helps accelerate the share price back upwards but I'm happy being patient and using the opportunity to buy more.
Overall I thought the report was good, ASOS have been rewarded for showing discipline towards paying off debt, and whilst there's still 1-2+ years of more progreess required we are heading in the right direction. The next set debt is not due until September 2028, and another in November 2030. Combine this with gross margins back to pre covid levels, the company is in a good position to look into how they can reduce opex. There's a very interesting confluent of scenarios playing out here which is very compelling - high concentration of owners leaving a lower free float, debt being paid off, margins increasing and progress towards being profitable. I've been holder for many years and I'm happy to buy more at these levels.
