SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Wickes backs outlook; STV returns gain

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Friday.

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Wickes Group PLC, up 1.7% at 133.70 pence, 12-month range 116.39p-159.80p. The home improvement retailer says like-for-like sales declined 0.2% year-on-year in the 13 weeks to September 30. Core sales rose 1.1% on a like-for-like basis, though 'do-it-for-me' sales declined 4.4%. Wickes says it is "comfortable" with market consensus for adjusted pretax profit between GBP45.3 million and GBP49.0 million.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

STV Group PLC, down 1.2% at 192.74p, 12-month range 175.00p-315.00p. The television broadcaster and content producer returns some of its 3.2% gain from Thursday and 2.3% rise from Wednesday. On Wednesday, it said its Studios arm signed a content deal with Comcast Corp subsidiary NBCUniversal Media LLC. The US series development agreement is for reality programme 'The Underdog' in the US. A UK version is already in the works for E4 under the working title 'Alan Must Win'.

Superdry PLC, down 2.9% at 37.88p, 12-month range 33.79p-168.00p. The retailer had jumped 9.1% on Thursday, as markets rallied on interest rate optimism after the Bank of England decided against lifting bank rate.
