Sabien losses widen as RBS orders dry up

Sabien Technology, which makes energy saving devices for boilers and air-conditioning units, posted lower turnover and bigger losses in the year to June 30 after seeing orders from the beleaguered bank RBS all but disappear.Pre-tax losses for the year totalled £825,000, compared with £612,000 for the previous year, as revenue slipped to £675,000 from £681,000.RBS accounted for £395,000 of sales in the year to June 30, 2008, but made minimal orders the following year, the company said. Orders from the insurance company Aviva, Marriott Hotels and mobile phone company Vodafone helped prevent a collapse in revenues.The firm also won business from public sector bodies such as the Department of Communities and Local Government, Keele University, South Derby District Council, Bradford City Council, Environment Agency and the National Archives.'This last year has been challenging for the company but I believe we are better positioned than ever,' said chief executive Alan O' Brien.
