PRESS: Barclays Set To Exit African Operations - FT

Sat, 27th Feb 2016 12:00

LONDON (Alliance News) - Barclays PLC is set to disclose plans to exit its African operations, following a review by the group's new chief executive, Jes Staley, the Financial Times reported on Friday.

The move will enable Barclays to focus on its main business areas in the UK and the US, where it owns significant retail and investment banking operations.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the FT said the decision will be announced on Tuesday, when the bank reports annual earnings for 2015.
