Playtech taps departing 888 Holdings chair Mattingley as own chair

Wed, 03rd Mar 2021 10:31

(Alliance News) - Playtech PLC on Wednesday said Brian Mattingley, currently chair of betting software rival 888 Holdings PLC, will join its own board as chair, starting June 1.

888 had announced Mattingley's departure back in September, when it said it had hired Jonathan Mendelsohn as non-executive director and chair-designate. Mattingley will step down from the 888 board on March 31 but remain as a consultant until taking up the Playtech post.

Mendelsohn co-founded Oakvale Capital LLP, a strategic advisory boutique focused on the gaming, gambling and sports sectors and was also a co-founder of corporate and public affairs consultancy LLM Communications.

Mattingley joined the 888 board in 2005 before moving to chief executive officer in 2012 and then non-executive chair in 2016. At Playtech he will replace Claire Milne, who has been interim chair since May last year.

Mattingley's appointment by Playtech was first reported late Tuesday by Sky News.

Playtech shares were up 4.0% at 508.40 pence in London Wednesday morning. 888 shares were up 4.5% at 315.50p.
