Kier Group Appoints Former Royal Mail CFO Matthew Lester As Chair

(Alliance News) - Construction firm Kier Group PLC on Monday said it has appointed Matthew Lester as board chair, taking over from Phillip Cox, effective from the start of next year.

Back in September, Kier had announced Cox's intention to step down once a successor was found.

Lester was chief financial officer of Royal Mail PLC from 2010 to 2017, having previously been finance director of interdealer broker ICAP PLC and having worked in finance for drinks firm Diageo PLC. ICAP is now TP ICAP PLC.

Lester currently is non-executive director of fund management firm Man Group PLC, lenders Barclays PLC, and professional services company Capita PLC. He will will step down from the board of Barclays on January 1.

"I am delighted to be joining Kier as its chair," Lester said. "I look forward to working with the board to deliver the group's strategic priorities and in continuing to build the foundations for its future."
