Kanabo shares soar after company announces UK mental health service

Thu, 28th Mar 2024 11:43

(Alliance News) - Kanabo Group PLC announced on Thursday an expansion of its UK online clinic.

The London-based healthcare technology and cannabis company said its digital health platform will now include specialised mental health treatments and offer services for individuals suffering from conditions including anxiety, PTSD and ADHD.

This decision comes at a time in which national mental health infrastructure is under extreme pressure.

In 2022, around one in six adults experienced symptoms of depression and in the fourth quarter of 2023, around 22% of the adult population experienced a high level of anxiety. Meanwhile, it is estimated that one in ten people in the UK might experience PTSD in their lifetime.

The expansion into this domain is in keeping with Kanabo's current corporate goals of expanding both its primary and secondary care platforms.

Furthermore, as announced in January the company has established an in-pharmacy physical presence in two locations aligning with its other goal of partnering with UK street pharmacies.

Chief Executive Officer Avihu Tamir said: "Since mental health is the second largest indication for medical cannabis prescriptions in the UK, our expansion into these services is poised to significantly increase our patient intake, revolutionising access and treatment options for those in need."

Kanabo shares were up 14% to 2.00 pence in London on late Thursday morning.
