Jelf Group chairman buys shares following acquisition, strong full-year results

Christopher Jelf, founder and chairman of Jelf Group, and his wife purchased a total of 56,300 shares at the insurance company on Thursday.Jelf, who founded the firm in 1989, bought 22,800 shares at a price of 129.6p each. His wife Julie Jelf also bought 33,500 shares in the company for the same price.The couple spent a total of £72,965 in both transactions.The chairman is now directly and indirectly interested in 2.522m ordinary shares.The news follows the group's £10.1m acquisition of the Yorkshire-based insurance broker Beaumonts Insurance Group on Tuesday, in a move that will extend the group's network of offices across the north.Last week, the company reported an increase of 8.4% in revenues to £82.6m for the full financial year despite facing challenges in a competitive market."Looking forward, we remain cautiously optimistic as the economy continues to improve," non-executive chairman Les Owen said at time of the report."Although markets remain intensely competitive, we believe that continued focus on our core segments, our strong balance sheet and our reputation for client service will enable us to deliver further profitable organic growth," he continued.
