Galileo Resources completes soil sampling programme in Botswana

Wed, 11th Oct 2023 13:31

(Alliance News) - Galileo Resources PLC on Wednesday said it completed a soil sampling programme for low detection TerraLeach mobile metal-ion geochemistry at the Kalahari copper belt in Botswana.

The mining company focused on Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa and the US said 3,373 samples were collected in two phases after some delay in obtaining farm access permissions. The samples have been sent to the Intertek analytical laboratory in Perth, Australia.

Further, at Galileo's star zinc project in Zambia, it received unsubstantiated reports that mining is taking place. The company is making enquiries from Siege Mining, the purchaser of the project, for clarification of the situation.

Meanwhile, at the Shinganda copper-gold project in Zambia, drilling has started on schedule, with most of the drilling to the finished before the start of the rainy season in the fourth quarter of the year.

Chair Colin Bird said: "The Shinganda project in our view shows significant copper and gold potential with gold values greater than typically experienced in Zambia."

Galileo Resources shares fell 4.0% to 0.96 pence per share on Wednesday afternoon in London.
