FTSE 250 movers: bwin.party jumps on confident outlook

Wed, 18th Dec 2013 15:51

Online gambling group bwin.party surged on Wednesday after saying that trading in the final quarter was in line with management's expectations. The firm also said that the outlook for 2014 remains positive, with new product launches, continued mobile expansion, prospects for further growth in the US and increased betting volumes.According to analyst Equity Analyst Michael Campbell from Daniel Stewart & Co., the company is positioned well after a tough year and the stock's valuation "looks undemanding". "The share price has been volatile in 2013, a reflection of above events, however we believe the business has come through the worst of it and appears to be turning a corner where trading early in the 4Q13 showed quarter-on-quarter growth."Africa-focused oil and gas group Ophir Energy pleased investors with a farm-out of its blocks in Gabon, while India-focused Essar Energy rose after an update which reported healthy current trading.Department store Debenhams was a heavy faller after analysts at UBS lowered their target price for the stock from 125p to 100p, raising concerns about margins given that promotional levels across the clothing retail industry are up on last year.Oilfield services firms Wood Group and Hunting were trading lower after a profit warning from French peer Technip.Housebuilder Berkeley was in the red after going ex-dividend, meaning that from today investors won't be able to get their hands on its latest payout. Grainger, Marston's, Greene King and Halfords also went ex-div today.FTSE 250 - RisersBwin.party Digital Entertainment (BPTY) 124.40p +7.52%Ophir Energy (OPHR) 318.70p +4.15%Alent (ALNT) 346.70p +3.86%Ocado Group (OCDO) 440.60p +3.77%Keller Group (KLR) 1,109.00p +3.64%Polymetal International (POLY) 524.00p +3.56%Pace (PIC) 308.20p +3.32%Essar Energy (ESSR) 73.15p +3.25%International Personal Finance (IPF) 602.00p +2.99%Supergroup (SGP) 1,360.00p +2.64%FTSE 250 - FallersPerform Group (PER) 230.00p -5.89%Wood Group (John) (WG.) 669.50p -4.70%Imagination Technologies Group (IMG) 169.10p -3.26%Debenhams (DEB) 79.50p -3.05%Kazakhmys (KAZ) 195.20p -2.64%Hunting (HTG) 732.00p -2.59%Berkeley Group Holdings (The) (BKG) 2,453.00p -2.39%Hochschild Mining (HOC) 127.40p -2.08%Smith (DS) (SMDS) 319.10p -2.00%Marston's (MARS) 144.20p -1.90%BC
