Fresh Pipeline Blockage Hinders Serica Energy's Erskine Re-Start

Thu, 11th Oct 2018 11:32

LONDON (Alliance News) - Serica Energy PLC on Thursday said the re-start of production from its Erskine wells is taking longer than hoped due to the formation on crystals in a pipeline.

Late September, Serica said a new section of pipeline had been finished, with production from its North Sea Erskine field shut-down since January due to a blockage.

However, Serica said Thursday gas hydrate formation, "ice-like" crystals of water and gas, have formed in the Erskine to Lomond production line.

The firm said standard methods are being used to dissolve these hydrates, and said the process should not have cause a "significant" delay.

Serica shares were 0.5% higher on Thursday, at 109 pence each.
