Electronic component maker e2v saw a strong order flow over the past six months and as a result trading this year will be better than expected.Industrial disruption in the latter part of 2009/10 meant e2v delivered an unusually high level of overdue orders in the six months to September. In addition, orders got a boost from the closure of the wafer fabrication facility in Grenoble. Group trading since the financial year end was significantly ahead of the comparable period in 2009/10," e2v said, though underlying sales in the period were maintained at the same level as the comparable period in 2009/10.Strong demand for the 68k-series microprocessor for the Eurofighter Typhoon programme and for imaging equipment in industrial process control applications boosted the order book to £167m (£130m) over the six months. Order intake in the period was £115m."In the light of the higher than planned level of demand for last time buy products associated with the Grenoble based wafer fabrication facility, we are reviewing the most appropriate point in 2011 for its closure," e2v added.
