Columbus Energy progressed carbon dioxide pilot at Inniss-Trinity

Thu, 22nd Aug 2019 11:35

(Sharecast News) - Trinidad-focussed oil and gas producer Columbus Energy Resources updated the market on the Inniss-Trinity Incremental Production Service Contract on Thursday, reporting that work was continuing with Predator Oil & Gas to advance the carbon dioxide pilot project.
The AIM-traded firm said Fram Exploration Trinidad - the operator of the Inniss-Trinity field and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Columbus - had successfully completed workover operations to survey downhole the AT-5X well in preparation for future carbon dioxide injection and enhanced oil production.

It said the preferred Predator downhole completion design, to potentially achieve optimum efficiency for carbon dioxide injection by isolating specific reservoir sands, was determined as being operationally viable.

In preparation for carbon dioxide-enhanced oil recovery operations, a key interval of reservoir section chosen for the first carbon dioxide injectivity test was successfully isolated from the deeper reservoirs, with the setting of a cast iron bridge plug.

The company said the workover rig would now move on to survey the AT-4 well.

"The company continues to advance the carbon dioxide pilot project," said Columbus executive chairman Leo Koot.

"We believe the carbon dioxide pilot project on Inniss-Trinity will give all parties a valuable insight into an alternative enhanced oil recovery mechanism for Trinidad, and has the potential to transform oil & gas operations in the Inniss-Trinity field and in similar fields in Trinidad."
