Centamin Seeing No Serious Virus Disruption At Egypt's Sukari Mine

Wed, 25th Mar 2020 08:53

(Alliance News) - Gold miner Centamin PLC on Wednesday said there has no significant disruption yet to operations at the Sukari mine.

Centamin has had no cases of Covid-19 amongst the workforce at Sukari, which is in the Nubian desert in Egypt. There has been no "material" disruption to operations, the supply chain, or gold shipments.

Egypt has closed national borders until April 15, but goods and supplies can still cross. Centamin is fully stocked for critical supplies, it added, for the second quarter of 2019.

"Centamin is a strong, resilient business with zero debt and USD348.9 million in cash and liquid assets, as at December 31," he added.

Shares were 2.9% higher on Wednesday morning in early trade at 136.13 pence each.
