BSkyB Buys 70% Of 'Great British Bake Off' Maker Love Productions

Mon, 21st Jul 2014 06:51

LONDON (Alliance News) - British Sky Broadcasting PLC said Monday it has acquired a 70% interest in independent production company Love Productions, for an undisclosed amount.

Love Productions is known for producing shows such as "The Great British Bake-Off" and "Benefits Street" and was founded in 2004. It has production bases in London, Bristol, New York and Los Angeles.

The company will continue to operate as a distinct company under its new ownership, continuing to produce programmes for all of the major UK broadcasters. It will continue to be run by its founders Richard McKerrow and Anna Beattie.

BSkyB's distribution business Sky Vision will become Love Productions' distribution partner. Its current arrangements with other broadcasters and distributors will not change, BSkyB said.

"This is a significant step for our growing international content business," said BSkyB's Managing Director of Content Sophie Turner Laing in a statement.

No financial details of the transaction were disclosed.
