BP Whiting crude unit operating normally after restart -sources

HOUSTON, March 2 (Reuters) - The second-largest crudedistillation unit (CDU) at BP Plc's 413,500 barrel perday Whiting, Indiana, refinery was operating normally on Mondayfollowing restart over the weekend, said sources familiar withplant operations.

The 110,000 bpd CDU completed restarting on Saturday, thesources said, after being shut on Wednesday by a malfunction.Repairs were undertaken to bring the unit back into operation.

The Whiting refinery is one of 12 across the United Stateswhere members of the United Steelworkers union (USW) are onstrike in support of a new three-year contract. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Meredith Mazzilli)
