Bankers Investment Trust Net Asset Value Decreases In Full Year

Tue, 15th Jan 2019 13:37

LONDON (Alliance News) - Bankers Investment Trust PLC on Tuesday said its most recent financial year was "disappointing" as it saw a fall in net asset value per share.

The investment company reported a decline in net asset value per share to 865.8 pence in the year to the end of October from 878.9p reported the year prior.

With the exception of North America and Japan, all global markets experienced negative returns during the year, the company explained.

"By our year-end the effects of rising US interest rates, stretched valuations of growth stocks, trade wars and UK politics had all played their part in turning global market sentiment negative," explained Chair Richard Killingbeck.

The trust's share price at the end of the period stood at 835.0p, representing 3.6% discount to net asset value.

Bankers Investment Trust shares were trading 0.4% higher on the day Tuesday at 813.25p each.

The company upped its annual payout by 6.0% to 19.72p per share from 18.60p paid the year earlier.

Looking ahead, Bankers Investment Trust said it plans to increase its dividend by further 6% in its 2019 financial year.
