Thu, 17th Mar 2016 10:23

LONDON (Alliance News) - Aquarius Platinum Ltd on Thursday said it has received competition approval in South Africa for its takeover by Sibanye Gold Ltd.

Sibanye agreed a deal to acquire Aquarius for GBP194.2 million in October 2015, and the deal has been working its way through the approval process.

Aquarius said the South African Competition Commission and the Commission Tribunal have now approved the deal, the final regulatory approvals needed for the deal to complete.

The pair will now finalise the agreement and will publish further details in due course.

Aquarius shares were down 1.3% to 13.33 pence.
