Another loss for Spurs

North London football club Tottenham Hotspur achieved record revenues of £119.8m in the year to June, up from £113.0m the year before. Profit from operations excluding football player trading rose to £22.7m from £18.4m the year before.The book value of its playing staff was written down by £40.0m, compared to amortisation and impairment of £37.3m the year before, but this was offset somewhat by a profit of £15.3m on player sales, though this was down on the £56.5m pocketed the year before.The company recorded a loss for the year of £6.5m, versus a profit the previous year of £33.4m.During the financial year the following players joined the Club: Sebastien Bassong, Anton Blackwood, Peter Crouch, Eidur Gudjohnsen (loan), Younes Kaboul, Niko Kranjcar, Kyle Naughton, James Walker and Kyle Walker. The total cost of all of these players was £37.8m. The following players left during the financial year: Troy Archibald-Henville, Darren Bent, Yuri Berchiche, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Lee Butcher, Pascal Chimbonda, Sam Cox, Gilberto Da Silva Melo, Chris Gunter, Tomas Pekhart, James Walker, Didier Zokora, for total fees of £24.6m. Since the year end the following players have joined at a combined cost of £19.9m: William Gallas, Stipe Pletikosa, Sandro, Rafael van der Vaart The following players have left since the year end: Dorian Dervite and Adel Taarabt, for combined transfer fees of £0.9m.
