Small caps round-up: Sagentia, Conroy Diamonds, Imaginatik ...

Mon, 11th Oct 2010 13:24

Shares in Sagentia moved higher after the technology and product development consultant said profits for the full year will be ahead of previous expectations following a better than expected summer. 'Consultant utilisation has remained high over the summer contrary to the anticipated seasonal slowdown due to project extensions, additional projects being received from existing customers and new customer wins, the company said.Software firm Imaginatik has had its contract with US pharmaceuticals giant Pfizer extended. The contract extension builds on an existing annual agreement for open innovation with Pfizer and increases the annual recurring license fee. Irish mining firm Conroy Diamonds & Gold said its step out drill programme in the north-western corner of its Clay lake gold target in County Armagh continues to give positive results, with 13 zones of mineralisation intersected."Every one of the 7 holes that have been drilled so far, all in the top corner of the soil anomaly, have got gold mineralisation present. We believe that this confirms our view that Clay Lake is even more prospective than Clontibret where we have a 1 million ounce resource identified already," said company chairman Professor Richard Conroy.Uranium exploration and development company Uranium Resources has completed phase one of its drilling programme at the Mtonya prospect in Tanzania and has now embarked on phase two.The initial results of phase one have confirmed management's geological interpretation on a district and prospect scale. Of particular significance have been observations of the right prospective lithologies and the intersection of strata, which have been subjected to extensive redox processes. Management believe these have potential to host large-scale uranium mineralisation.Brownfield site developer Inland has posted strong results for the year ended 30 June, as revenue surged 217% to £16.54m, from £5.22m in 2009, boosted by increased demand for land with planning consent. The group has seen a return to profitability with a pre-tax profit of £1.05m, a substantial improvement from the pre-tax loss of £10.47m previously.Inland has disposed of most of its smaller sites within its portfolio, as it looks to secure larger sites which will predominantly be purchased with joint venture partners.Shares in Real Estate Opportunities shot up by one-sixth Monday morning following the announcement that the group has deferred payments on £150m of debt until May 2011.Last month the company also reported that the £225m Battersea power station facility and £37.55m site assembly facility with Bank of Scotland and Bank of Ireland had been extended to August 2011.Professional services group Strontium had its best month ever for contract wins in September, signing deals worth a total of £0.55m. Strontium claim that investments in product development, client management and creative team development have contributed to these results. In September, the group secured one new client and a further two new contract wins from existing clients.A "good" second half helped online market research agency YouGov meet full-year expectations and positive momentum has continued through to the current year.Adjusted profit before tax for the year ended 31 July was up very slightly at £4m on sales little changed at £44.2m. A big reported loss of £9.6m was mostly due to an impairment charge of £7.9m at the German business.Irish miner Minco's ongoing exploration drilling on the Pallas Green zinc lead exploration project in County Limerick, continues to yield positive results."Ongoing drilling throughout the summer months has continued to expand the Tobermalug deposit and the related cluster of mineralised deposits in the Caherconlish area," said Minco chief Terence McKillen."The new discovery of the Knockroe Zone, which had not been identified at the beginning of the year, has been particularly encouraging. The extent of the mineralising system in the wider Caherconlish area continues to grow, and remains open in almost all directions".Fusion IP, which commercialises university research, gained ground Monday after reporting a huge surge in revenue and portfolio return to £4.4m from £0.6m and cutting its loss to £1.6m from £5m."We expect to create further companies in 2010/11, and remain confident that we will be able to exit companies for good value when the time is right," said chief executive David Baynes.Sable Mining Africa, the AIM listed resource investor, has started exploration on the Dukwe project area in Botswana, intersecting a carbonaceous sequence highlighted by a regional airborne magnetic reconnaissance programme."Early signs of the prospectivity of the Dukwe coal project have been positive and we look forward to reporting further regarding the laboratory results and the development programme."Shares in Frontera Resources rose sharply as it revealed its Mirzaani #5 frac well in Georgia produced encouraging results. After clean-out, the well flowed naturally at a 14-day average rate of approximately 130 barrels per day of fluid, including 60 barrels per day of 29.5O API oil and associated gas. Metminco, the ASX and AIM listed mining exploration company, has received commitments for a placement raising A$30m at A$0.20 per share, with BGF Equities acting as the lead manager. ViaLogy has been engaged by a second global energy company for QuantumRD performance assessment projects. The analysis targets large oilfields outside the United States. Following the recent announcement of a supermajor contract, ViaLogy has been approached by several US and non-US companies for de-risking both onshore and offshore prospects.Oil and gas exploration and production company Frontera's shares jumped after initial results from the Mirzaani #5 well in Georgia.A multi-zone frac completion was successfully accomplished in late September and the group says that this "constitutes an essential first step towards increasing near term production at the Mirzaani Field."
