(Alliance News) - Tertiary Minerals PLC on Wednesday said latest lab results on soil samples confirmed the potential of the Jacks copper project in Zambia.
The mineral exploration and development company focused on Zambia and the US state of Nevada said the Jacks lab results showed "excellent" correlation with previously reported field pXRF results, following 107 soil samples from 4 sample grids.
High copper to scandium rations were obtained from the results, which Tertiary Minerals said is considered indicative of hydrothermal copper sulphide mineralisation.
This was identified along a strike length of around 1 kilometre, making Area C a priority drilling, alongside Area D.
"These check analyses, and the scandium results in particular, have materially enhanced the previously reported results and confirm the prospectivity of the priority copper soil anomalies outlined to date at the Jacks project," said Executive Chair Patrick Cheetham.
"These results build on a number of recent positive announcements for our Zambian copper projects that highlight the prospectivity of the portfolio we have built over the past 18 months. We are looking forward to an exciting field season in 2023."
On Monday, Tertiary Minerals announced its local partner Mwashia Resources Ltd received approval from the Zambian Environmental Management Agency for its Mushima North copper projects.
It said its partner received approval of the environmental project brief from the Zambian government for the copper projects, in which Tertiary Minerals is earning up to a 90% interest.
ZEMA also approved the Konkola West and Lubuila projects on November 24, while Tertiary has one final outstanding EPB. The approval process is at "an advanced stage", Tertiary Minerals said.
Shares in Tertiary Minerals were down 3.4% to 0.15 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
