Chemicals group Elementis was the top performer after saying it is on track to hit full-year earnings forecasts with trading in the first three months of 2012 ahead of the same period last year. Howden Joinery shares also jumped after the company said its UK revenue was up 5.9% in the first 16 weeks of 2012 and increased four per cent on a same depot basis despite challenging market conditions. ?? House builder Taylor Wimpey also gained after saying the UK housing market conditions remain stable and it is trading at the upper end of company expectations. ?? Meanwhile, out of town property specialist SEGRO took a hit after it warned that the general economic climate could affect both rental and investor demand.
