(Alliance News) - Spanish unions representing Ryanair cabin crew said on Wednesday they plan to strike for ten days across September.
The strikes are planned for September 1, 2, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 28, the Union Sindical Obrera and Sindicato Independiente de Tripulantes de Cabina de Pasajeros de Lineas Aereas said. The strike is to prevent the closure of the Gran Canaria, Tenerife South and Girona bases.
If there is no agreement in the next few days, the unions will formally call for the strike. Jairo Gonzalo, secretary of the USO-Ryanair Organization, was doubtful over Ryanair's willingness to reach an agreement.
This threat of industrial action comes just days after Irish Ryanair pilots voted in favour of striking over pay. Meanwhile, British Ryanair pilots will strike from August 22 until August 23 and from September 2 until September 4.
