Feb 12 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell Plc confirmedon Wednesday the origin of the crude oil leak adjacent to thereversed Houston-to-Houma (Ho-Ho) pipeline facility inChannelview, Texas, is from a pipe associated with Shell's Ho-Holine.
Shell reported a crude oil leak adjacent to a Ho-Ho pipelinefacility in Channelview, Texas, on Monday.
The line was shut down for planned maintenance prior to therelease, spokeswoman Destin Singleton said in an emailedstatement.
"The line was initially shut down to accommodate electricalwork done by a third party," she added.
The company said on Tuesday it shut down its reversedHouston-to-Houma (Ho-Ho) pipeline for planned maintenance, andthe line would restart following identification and repair oofthe crude oil leak.
According to a filing with the National Response Center,some 20 barrels of oil spilled into a ditch in Channelview, afacility where Shell makes crude oil deliveries from the Ho-Homainline.
The Ho-Ho line was fully reversed in December last year. Itincludes a 360,000-barrel-per-day (bpd) pipeline from PortNeches, Texas to Houma, Louisiana and a 500,000-bpd line fromHouma to the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port's (LOOP) hub inClovelly, Louisiana.
Another 300,000-bpd segment will ferry crude from the Houmaterminal to St. James, Louisiana. (Reporting by Anupam Chatterjee in Bangalore; Editing byMichael Urquhart)
