NORWAY GAS-Flows to Europe inch up

Fri, 31st May 2013 08:39

* Norway gas exports total 258 mcm/d * Deliveries to UK steady at 38 mcm/d OSLO, May 31 (Reuters) - Norwegian pipeline gas exportsedged up on Friday morning on slightly higher flows to Germanyand Belgium, while supplies to Britain were steady. Deliveries to Europe including Britain were up to 258million cubic metres (mcm) by 0740 GMT versus an average of 253mcm on Thursday. Supplies to Britain, Europe's biggest traded market, weresteady at 38 mcm, while combined exports to Germany firmed by 3mcm to 139 mcm. Flows through the Vesterled pipeline to UK remained shut dueto maintenance scheduled to last until Monday. Flows to Belgium were up by 3 mcm to 40 mcm, while those toFrance slipped by 2 mcm to 41 mcm. Gas output from the Norwegian continental shelf was expectedto be reduced by a combined 104 mcm per day on Friday due tomaintenance at several fields, with the reduction increasing to134 mcm over the weekend. On Monday, export capacity to Germany is expected to fall by35 mcm per day due to the shutdown of the Norpipe pipeline thatbrings gas from Ekofisk field to Emden terminal. The pipelinewill remain shut until June 24. That means some platforms in the Ekofisk area will also haveto shut down oil production in June as they would not be able toevacuate gas. Norway's export figures are based on gas fed into the systemat a certain time and calculated to a daily average. Volumes canvary throughout the day as producers adjust the amount of gasthey pump.
