Pires Notes Roll Out Of Covid-19 Product Within Investee Portfolio

Fri, 02nd Oct 2020 10:59

(Alliance News) - Pires Investments PLC on Friday said Ambisense, a company within investee Sure Valley Ventures' portfolio, has announced its entry into the air quality market with the launch of AmbiAir, a solution designed to help manage, assess, and predict the Covid-19 risk in commercial and public buildings.

Pires Investments is an investment company focused on next-generation technology. Pires Investments has around a 13% interest in Sure Valley Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on investing in the software technology sector.

AmbiAir combines multiple tools and techniques useful to air quality professionals to understand the behaviour of air quality pollutants.

Studies show that the danger of exposure to Covid-19 is reduced when the level of CO2 is below 600 parts per million, relative humidity is between 40% to 60%. So, within a Covid-19 context, AmbiAir poses a possible solution in identifying risk hot-spots using location-based as well as predicting when safe levels are likely to be breached.

Pires Chair Peter Redmond said: "Ambisense's launch of AmbiAir, a solution designed to help manage, assess, and predict the Covid-19 risk in commercial and public buildings, is particularly timely considering the challenges the global pandemic continues to bring to everyday living.

"AmbiAir is an innovative product to compliment already established measures safeguarding the public from COVID-19, aiming to reduce the risk of the virus in buildings and encourage employees to return to a safer working environment."

Pires Investments shares were up 6.7% at 4.80 pence each in London on Friday morning.
