(Sharecast News) - Agriculture-focussed biological products developer Plant Health Care announced plans to start commercial sales in two "new and significant" markets on Friday, appointing Ager Agro as a distributor of its 'ProAct' product in Argentina and Uruguay.
The AIM-traded firm said Ager supplied products to 10 million total treated hectares of crops in Argentina in 2021.
Its Harpin αβ 'ProAct' product, meanwhile, was shown to increase yield by 5% in early season soybeans exposed to drought.
Sales would start in Argentina - the world's third-largest soybean grower - in the third quarter, with the registration process for commercial sale to commence in Uruguay.
"Global sales of Harpin αβ grew by 55% in 2021, as more farmers recognize the value of the product," said chief executive officer Chris Richards.
"Commencing commercial sales in Argentina will materially support continued strong revenue growth.
"Argentine growers are sophisticated and operate on a large scale - they are increasingly adopting more sustainable approaches."
Richards said Ager had demonstrated its commitment to sustainable agriculture and its ability to commercialise biological products at scale.
"ProAct makes a strong addition to their impressive portfolio.
"Plant Health Care and Ager Agro share a similar vision for how products like ProAct can help growers maximise their productivity in an environmentally sustainable manner and we are therefore delighted to be working alongside them."
At 1530 BST, shares in Plant Health Care were up 1.89% at 10.8p.
