(ShareCast News) - Oliver Hemsley has sold £5.8m worth of shares in Numis, the stockbroker which he founded and helmed for a quarter of century before stepping down last year.Hemsley, who is still a director at the City firm, sold 2.36m shares at a price of 244p apiece, not far off December's 12-month high. After the sale he still has exactly 7m shares, or 6.19% of the total.Last May Numis said Hemsley would step down from the CEO role in the autumn and be succeeded by Alex Ham and Ross Mitchinson as co-CEOs.Hemsley said: "Alex and Ross have worked alongside me for a number of years now and I have huge confidence in them, their vision for the firm, and their determination and commitment to its continued success."In October, Ham and Mitchinson reported revenue from core activities had grown by 14% in the year to end-September, comfortably above £100m for the first time in its history even though activity in the UK equity market was somewhat impacted by the Brexit vote during the second half.Numis completed a further 19 equity raises, including three IPOs in the second half, bringing the total number of equity deals to 46 for the year with funds raised just below £1.9bn. "Our current deal pipeline is encouraging and we remain determined to support UK companies of all sizes seeking capital to grow, whilst simultaneously building long-term relationships with companies and investors," the pair said.Top Director BuysMurray International Trust (MYI)Director name: Campbell,MarciaAmount purchased: 17,174 @ 1,157.00pValue: £198,703.17Northern Petroleum (NOP)Director name: Murphy,JonathanAmount purchased: 978,498 @ n/aValue: n/aTop Director SellsNumis Corporation (NUM)Director name: Hemsley, Oliver Amount purchased: 2,364,254 @ 244pValue: £5,768,779.76
