(Alliance News) - IronRidge Resources Ltd on Tuesday said it has received positive results from the testing of samples from the Ewoyaa lithium trial in Ghana.
Brisbane-headquartered IronRidge sent coarse spodumene concentrate samples from Ewoyaa, with a grade of 6.3% lithium oxide, for conversion testing. This achieved over 99% conversion into acid-soluble beta spodumene, the company said.
This process produced lithium carbonate at a grade of 99.92%, which IronRidge said exceeds "most" specifications for battery-grade quality.
IronRidge's Chief Executive Vincent Mascolo said: "We are very pleased to have achieved these conversion test work results which demonstrate the Ewoyaa project's ability to generate battery grade lithium products from premium feedstock.
"These results are another significant milestone which underscore the commercial potential of the project, which also boasts exceptional logistics; adjacent multiple high-voltage power lines, sealed roads and lies within 110 kilometres of the operating deep sea port of Takoradi, all within the pro-mining jurisdiction of Ghana".
"Whilst the Ewoyaa project continues to deliver encouraging results, the company is working towards releasing its maiden resource estimate for first-quarter 2020, and will continue with project studies and regional exploration programmes," Mascolo added.
Shares were 0.2% lower on Tuesday afternoon in London at 12.60 pence each.
